Experience
I spent many years in the academic world, and in subsequent teaching and tutoring experiences I have discovered that my natural enthusiasm for science and math rubs off quickly on others. Having graduated from Boston Latin School, I went on to earn my bachelor's degree and my PhD in Materials Science from MIT, where I also completed post doctoral work. Soon afterwards, I started a software consulting business, which I still run; but nothing gives me more satisfaction than helping a student become the master of a subject they are struggling with. When tutoring young students, I begin by identifying the issues that are keeping them from understanding the work. Once that is determined, we work together on the journey to success, as I guide students through the levels of mastery to the confidence level that is achieved when they attain their goals. It is my opinion that success in education is the framework for being successful in life.As an Eagle Scout, I have mentored other youth who wanted to attain Eagle rank, and as a volunteer, I help seniors to understand the electronics they have in their homes. In my spare time, I enjoy music, reading, and doing Tai Chi, which I will soon be qualified to instruct.
